Speed is not just a preference setting. It changes whether the listener feels guided, rushed, or bored, so it is worth testing with the kind of material you actually publish.
Default speed is a baseline
Default speed is usually safe, but not always ideal. Technical explanations, new vocabulary, and instructions may need a slower pace.
Fast audio can work for familiar material
Review notes or internal reminders can sometimes be slightly faster because the listener already knows the context.
Test speed with the target device
Audio that sounds fine on desktop speakers may feel too fast on a phone in a noisy environment. Preview in realistic conditions when possible.
Before you publish
- Slow down complex material
- Use default for general narration
- Test on phone speakers
- Avoid speed changes inside one short file
Multilingual quick notes
A simple way to try it
Start with one short paragraph from your own project. If the sample sounds clear, keep that version of the script and then record the full MP3. It is much easier to fix one paragraph early than repair a long file at the end.
